WHO YOU ARE MATTERS

 WHO YOU ARE MATTERS

My name is Anastazja and I am from the suburbs of Chicago, my roots coming from my mother whonis from Poland and my dad from Southern California.

I don't know exactly where I am going, but I plan on continuing to wander and explore until I find that out. I plan on going where my creativity leads my mind and body.

My deepest desires and dreams come in traveling and adventure, going from place to place and meeting new souls, dancing with new people, hearing music and sounds across the world.

I used to think I was very different from my parents, but I am like them in the search for something greater. At the second their adulthood began, my parents both left home and family to find a better life for themselves, and I continue to do so leading an independent journey to shape my own life.

I am unlike my parents in the fact that I chose to chase a life of creativity and adventure, rather than worrying about stressing about the greater picture of work; though I do think they gave this up to provide this opportunity for me so maybe we're not all that different at the end of the day.

The expectations in my life are definitely ones I have come to create, after much time learning about my own heart and goals that I want to pursue. That being said, the pressure I put on myself to meet those expectations comes from a fear of failing in front of others.

I have a friend, Phillip, who has lately become my role model because of the way they choose to live their life. They aren't necessarily someone I aspire to for work or lifestyle, but someone who I feel is truly comfortable in their skin and always always true to what they want. They walk around with confidence and their heart open, and are always willing and ready to try something new, no shame or embarrassment followed with it. Spending time around them made me realize what it looked like to choose yourself first and live comfortably in your skin, and that to me was deeply inspiring.

I always have found a special connection to butterflies. Every time I am visited by one, I feel a sense of gratitude as though I am being visited as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty in everything.

I've always been someone who enjoys spending time in nature, my favorite places being open grass and vast fields. My favorite place in my childhood was by what I called "my tree", which was this one tree that sat in an open field near a townhouse my family used to live in. I made my first neighborhood friends there, adopted a dog and walked him there everyday, and grew up under that tree.

  1. I also used to think I was so different from my parents, but, as I get older I see more of myself in them, especially in the sense that we are all striving toward something greater!

  4. I find myself also looking towards my friends as role models in the same way. They are fine with who they are which is all that really matters at the end of the day.
